4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent insight into legends associated with freemasonry, 22 Oct 1999
By A Customer
This book is well researched, well written and provides a valuable insight into the origins of Freemasonry (both actual and in legends). I would recommend this book to anyone whether a freemason or like me - not a freemason but has a great interest into the history of one of the worlds great organisations.

5.0 out of 5 stars HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, 10 Dec 1998
By A Customer
This book was a truly enchanting read. I thought that Brother Mackey's dissection of what is legend and what is fact was remarkable. You can tell by reading this book that a tremendous amount of research went into his works. Bro. Mackey takes the various manuscripts and theories that were written since the conception of the Craft and ingeniously and deliberately uncovers there true meanings. A true work of art for the Masonic Student...

3.0 out of 5 stars An odd insider's history, 25 Sep 1998
By A Customer
For anyone interested in how the Masons view themselves, this book is a valuable resource. It is most certainly not a factual history, but the myths are just important to anyone seriously studying Masonic history. At the very least, it adds a handsome and esotrtic-looking volume to your shelf.
