Product Description
Synopsis
As a dealer and professional tour guide, Kimberly Jayne Gray is an ideal escort around London - one of the world's richest sources of antiques. Finding dealers and other outlets with consistently interesting and high-quality items in this thriving city can be a challenge. This refreshingly accessible, wonderfully functional and superbly illustrated guide pinpoints the very essence of antiques-hunting: knowing where to go for those great buys. The London Antiques Guide offers an insider's perspective on London's best dealers and shops, with over 350 of London's essential antiques sources, and many of its best-kept secrets. The book is divided into seven sections, designed to help the reader survey London's antiques quarters by area and style. They contain information on all types of outlet - from shops and auction houses to fairs and markets. An extensive list of websites is woven into the text, and a full glossary of general trade terms and phrases appears at the end of the book, along with a quick price guide, two timelines and various tips and tricks of the trade.

From the Author
In August 2003, a client from Texas said to me, "you should write a book". After 20+ drafts, two working titles and over 2000 photographs (whittled down to 197 in the book), The London Antiques Guide is finally in the stores.

The wonderful team at Thames & Hudson (publishers of the Hip Hotels and Style City series) have been fantastic in bringing the idea of a refreshingly modern, fabulously illustrated guide to life.

The London Antiques Guide is intended to appeal to anyone with an interest in antiques.

If you are looking for a fun day out in London, The London Antiques Guide will help you chose a street or style that appeals to you, with information on how to get there, what to see, where to eat, and other places of interest in the area.

More serious antiques collectors can cross-reference their current sources against everything London has to offer. Professional interior designers and antiques dealers will find the 350+ addresses (including web sites where available) to be an invaluable resource.

More than anything, The London Antiques Guide is intended to coax you out of modern furniture stores and into London's amazing array of antiques sources. If you know where to look (and with The London Antiques Guide you do!), you will find that London's antiques trade offer style, quality, history and value to blow away anything modern furniture has to offer.

Regardless of whether your antiques budget is £50 or £50,000, I very much hope that The London Antiques Guide helps you discover something fabulous!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great find!, 6 May 2005
By A Customer
I've just bought this book and despite having lived in London all my life, I've already found many great sources for antiques that I didn't know about.

The illustrations are fantastic, and it works both as a small scale coffee table book and a really useful resource...
