I found this book invaluable. My knowlege of the history of England was somewhat limited, probably reflecting the lack of interest in my school days. This book provides a very broad picture of Englands history without to going into to much detail. For someone who who's history knowlege is limited, or perhaps tourists who want broad information, it provided a structure and background from which the reader can then decide to investigate further. It was well written and the graphics added to what is a fine book.
