3.0 out of 5 stars Old designs - providing good grounding in boat construction, 25 May 2003
First published in 1934, the language, building techniques and designs reflect the age of the text. The section on lofting and erecting frames gives the novice a fair grounding in these techniques. All the designs are of Chine construction and are easily built. No effort is made to introduce rounded hulls to the reader. Several of the could be adapted to modern building techniques and would produce dated but very functional boats. However their heritage would be un-mistakable. The plans are presented in imperial measurements and can be converted to metric and easily scaled if required.

Not a bad book considering when it was first written, but don't be fooled that the 16 designs are of much value.
