4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, entertaining, but some descriptions unclear, 27 Jul 2001
By A Customer
An interesting insight into some of Houdini's own ideas and methods - with plenty of photographs, illustrations etc. As ever, Walter Gibson's contributions add extra depth and clarity, with many insightful comments drawn from his own friendship with Houdini. My *only* complaint would be that some of the knots etc. described are poorly explained in the text - and not shown clearly enough in photographs or diagrams to make them workable!! So some of the 'secrets' are actually not shared with the reader at all - at least not without a great deal of research and experimentation on their part! Over all, however, this book is an essential title for any magical collection. Entertaining, full of effects (including ESCAPES) which the reader can perform themselves. Gibson's notes add extra depth and insight. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
