Product Description

Product Description

Kring, Davison, Neale, and Johnson′s Abnormal Psychology sets the standard for clarity, cutting–edge coverage, authoritative content, and clinical emphasis. The authors invite students to examine the many different facets of psychopathology –– to search for clues, follow–up on hunches, and evaluate evidence on the origins of these disorders and the effectiveness of specific interventions.

Now in their new 10th Edition, the authors have also greatly expanded the text′s pedagogical features, making it even more student–friendly, engaging, and informative.

"Current trends in the field are well reflected with the sections on genetics, neuroscience, and cognitive science." – Jack Nitschke,University of Wisconsin

"I was particularly impressed by the skill with which the authors were able to discuss complex material in a clear fashion." – Janice Kiecolt–Glaser, Ohio State University

5.0 out of 5 stars Abnormal Psychology, 29 Oct 2008
This was the recommended text for my mental health module and I didn't hold out high hopes given the quality of past recommended texts, but I was pleasantly surprised. It goes into depth, but it's easy to understand, even the biological aspects of mental health issues that usually give me a headache. There are lots of examples of case studies relating to the topic being discussed. There are also focus boxes which contain interesting articles. The best thing about this book was the fact that it took you through the stages of disorders...starting with the classification, description, possible causes through to treatment, bot by medication and therapy. Th book not only describes treatments and causes but evaluates them too, which is a very useful base to build knowledge on.

This is an excellent book, particularly for students studying psychology or counselling. The book gives a detailed overview of psychiatric disorders and theories behind them.It also looks at the various treatments available and is written in an easy to understand manner.
A must read or reference book for anyone interested in abnormal psychology.
