5.0 out of 5 stars The best of its genre, 21 Jan 2003
By Mr. J. C. Webb "BigJon" (currently in Madrid) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
So, this book is about the brain - an explanation of consciousness and the self. The old Where we are coming from, and To where are we going questions. And a fine read it is. Using real (well-established) science and avoiding the philosophical circles, this book is by far one of the best efforts to bring to the public some of the big answers. Even though the book is very americanised, and annoyingly some great (non-american) players don't get a look in, it is worth the effort. The book has room for disagreement with the author's opinions, handheld journeys through various branches of science, and even puts God in perspective (as a greater entity than most people give credit).

5.0 out of 5 stars It is true, what is nonphysical is moving what is physical., 23 Aug 2001
The Quantum Brain by J. Satinover is an inspiring book on the subject of intelligence and life in general. The author take us in an elegant trip from basic brain theory to very surprising new explanations on how life and intelligence developed. The book does not avoid hard questions and answers them in a coherent manner with the help of quantum mechanics. Satinover presents a new point of view that will surely set the direction of brain research in the next century. Read this book and meditate on how matter relates to the nonphysical and how causality must base itself on the uncaused to allow us free will.

1.0 out of 5 stars Cracking the Quantum Code?, 17 Jan 2004
The first part of the book covers a number of the more interesting developments over the latter half of the twentieth century in understanding the brain and consciousness. However, the scientific community has moved on considerably since this book was written and would certainly not agree with many of its conclusions now.

The latter part provides us with views on God, Consciousness, Morality, the Future of Mankind - from the author of Cracking the Bible Code. Enough said?
