4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent PMI exam resource & good reference work, 25 Jul 2000
I recently took the PMI 'Project Management Professional' exam. I found this book an excellent aid to passing (well). There is comprehensive coverage of all the topics in the PMBOK (PMI's Project Management Body of Knowledge) and extensive background material - one example to illustrate! I found a beautiful case history on 'Parametric Estimating' (at Boeing). This is a topic on PM exam syllabuses, but I had not previously found a good example. I passed this reference to a colleague, who the next day introduced it on a training course he was giving, with great success. Why only four stars? . . The network (PERT) diagrams are illustrated using the 'arrow' methodology rather than the 'precedence' methodology. This may be technically OK, and in line with PMI practice. But as modern planning software almost universally favours 'precedence' diagrams, this is against current practice, and could confuse newcomers trying to teach themselves the subject. However, despite this criticism, it is an excellent reference book & PMI exam study aid.

Robert Flatau, PM consultant

1.0 out of 5 stars Great ideas but do they work?, 16 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Where have his project management "theories" been proven and put into practice? Does Kerzner have real-life, on the job project management experience? If you are looking for project management academics, read this. If you are looking for best-in-class project management applications, go elsewhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tbe Bible of Project Management, 8 April 1999

You are only kidding yourself if you call yourself a Project Manager, but do not practice Kersner religiously. There are many books on Project Management, but this is the only one you will ever need.
