∗ Basic and advanced techniques for adding intelligence to your Web pages
∗ How to store different types of knowledge in your Web pages

1.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE AVIOD THIS BOOK AT ALL COSTS!, 13 May 2003
By Sanjay "sanjay" (Leicester, UK) - See all my reviews
I bought this book about 3 years ago. I was just starting out learning html and wanted to move onto Javascript. 3 years back this book had a 5 star review, and thus I (stupidly) bought it. The book only passed over many important concepts and the examples given were little or no use what-so-ever. I thought the book was bad when I was reading it, but only realised how bad it was once i bought another javascript book (Javascript Bible), and compared it to that. Even though i paid more for the Javascript Bible, it was well worth it. I have actually left the Web Developers Javascript book at my old company as i refuse to have it on my bookshelf.

2.0 out of 5 stars This teaches basic programming not javascript, 12 Jul 2000
By A Customer
I am very dissappointed I spent so much money on a book which does little more than introduce javascript and then teach the basics of using programming to link the basics together.

It introduces things like fuzzy logic but fails to deal with pattern matching, regular expressions and any other programming construct necessary to actually fully utilize the concept.

All in all the book is 80 pages of basic javascript and then 200 pages of frustration

4.0 out of 5 stars Useful introduction to JavaScript and programming techniques, 9 Jul 1998
By A Customer
Ford begins with useful code samples to illustrate the basic grammar and syntax of JavaScript. In the second half of the book he provides an interesting introduction to programming techniques that could be adopted for use in any language. I teach a JavaScript course and this will be the text.
