Product Description

Product Description

For programmers who don′t know Visual Basic or have CCE, this book allows them to take advantage of this technology, providing over 101 prebuilt custom controls that can be plugged in to any of the nine major programming languages. CD–ROM includes 101 prebuilt, ready–to–run custom controls ready to plug into any program created in one of the nine basic languages, source code, test, and Visual Basic 5 Control Creation Edition.

From the Author

Add powerful ActiveX controls to your applications!
This book explains how to create ActiveX controls using the Visual Basic 5 Control Creation Edition (CCE). It also includes a brief chapter on Visual Basic fundamentals, and a WORKING COPY of the CCE, so users of C++, Delphi, and other languages can create controls quickly and easily.

The book includes 101 ready-to-run ActiveXcontrols (I don't know why it says 150 in the other comments) you can use immediately. You can also modify them to create your own controls.

This site also contains lots of tips, tricks, and example programs demonstrating advanced Visual Basic techniques.

If you have comments, suggestions, or whatever, I'd love to hear from you at RodStephens@vb-helper.com.

4.0 out of 5 stars Simply, this guy is excellent., 3 Sep 2001
By rramsley@hotmail.com (United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
I loaned Rod Stephens custom controls Cookbook from a friend, Initially I thought this book will probably not meet my requirements, how wrong! I found his writing and explanations very clear, conscise and well documented, virutally all the third party controls I was trying to integrate into Oracle Developer 2000 with VB rather than Java so as to help my clients unstand the underlying concepts of why I deceided to change the design agreed, was well received, so thanks to Rod Stephens, please pass this message on to him and do let him know that he should please keep up with his writing style, but most importantly I will like him to write a book programming with Java Swing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth Double the Price!!!!, 21 Mar 1998
By A Customer
This book is well worth the price just for the executable controls you get. The source code is even included. All controls are explained in great detail and even suggestions for enhancing them are included. Most of the controls mimic commerically available controls costing hundreds of dollars each. And with this book and cd-rom, you can even change the way they work without having to wait on a vendor to add the functionality for you!
