5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it now!, 3 May 2001
By Mr. Kevyn Davies-jones (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is the best I have ever come across on the subject of procratination. The fact that I have not put off writing this review is a testimony to its success!

Most personal development books I have read seem to be good at describing the symptoms, but state the obvious when it comes to prescribing the cure. This book is very different. As well as describing the symptons, it also explains the diagnosis - the psychological problems of insecurity and discomfort dodging that is at the heart of procrastination, and the self-deceptions that procrastinators indulge in to cover this up.

The book was also very good at how to confront the problem of procrastination at both a tactical and strategic level. It was full of advice and exercises on how to correct faulty thinking and practical tips to get things done.

My only critisism of the book is that there are a few derogatory references to God and religious belief (e.g. "God has an anger problem"). These remarks were shallow and unneccessary. The book is brilliant psychology, but poor theology.

If you take this book seriously, it will not always make comfortable reading, but if you put it into practice, it will deliver.

If you are thinking of buying this book - do it now!

2.0 out of 5 stars Unclear and hard to read, 20 Mar 2008
By bob (uk) - See all my reviews
I found that this book was difficult to read.It said a lot about mindsets and rambled on round the houses. I kept thinking 'get to the point'. It was so boring that I skipped to the 'how to'section, but I really did not see a lot of ideas there to encourage motivation, or get up and go. By coincidence, someone showed me a one page printout from the internet, which was succinct, clear and actually useful. On balance, I think if you have a week of quiet time and no distractions, you might extract something useful.
