5.0 out of 5 stars Dry as a bone but vital for every functional testers library, 23 Nov 1999
By A Customer
~Most testing books that I've read are strong on Management but tend to be rather wooly on describing precisely how you generate a test case. The tend to say that you should have a methodology for defining test cases in place but then skip over exactly how you do it.

This book sets out a clear example of how to define cases for a complex system. At times its badly written, confusing and has the most atrocious layout but underneath that is a model of elegant simplicity.

Heartily recomended

4.0 out of 5 stars Solid, but full of bugs, ironically enough, 11 Mar 1998
By A Customer
I agree with the review above: It's a little dry. However, it is certainly thorough, and if you're willing to sit and work through the examples, it's extremely informative. Ironically, I found a number of errors in the examples. Guess he should have applied his own methodology...

4.0 out of 5 stars Dry reading but it's worth the effort, 17 Sep 1999
By A Customer
I applied the Finite-State Testing technique described in this book to a software component we had previously tested. We then uncovered more bugs, one of which was quite serious.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good book with a misleading title
Many people view black-box testing as testing in which test cases are derived from the specification of the *external* behaviour of the item under test (IUT). Read more
