1.0 out of 5 stars ???????, 31 May 2007
By B. Goldhawk "Ben G" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I am new to PHP and have learned other things before using for dummies books and found them very good, however i was extremely disappointed. I found this book boring and irritating. After about 6 hours of reading i was thinking 'when am i going to be set a task to practice what i have just learned' well that time never come. If you think you can learn a just by constant reading with no task to follow and nothing practice then this book would be ideal for you.

When my friend ( who has been using php for nearly 7 years) looked at this book he said he couldn't believe how poor the script was inside the book and told me to ignore some of it altogether.

I would never recommend anyone ever buying this book, and i am going to find another book that will teach me PHP preferably not written by Janet Valade

1.0 out of 5 stars Not Enough Practice, 15 Nov 2007
I am usually a fan of the for dummies series but this book disappointed me. I couldn't beleive how bored and annoyed I was when trying to learn something from it. Trying to remember some of the stuff was so hard because there was no practice to reinforce it into my brain. Very disappointed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Very basic information in this book, 18 Jun 2007
By Mr. M. Venn "maven" (UK) - See all my reviews

I have used other 'Dummies' books in the past but this one is not as good as some of these other titles. It is slow to get going and if you already have much knowledge of sql usage the mysql part is nothing new. Look elsewhere is my opinion.
