Product Description

By the originator of the breakthrough therapy, this updated edition describes the latest uses of EMDR-including treating victims of September 11 and other disasters around the world. Hailed as the most important method to emerge in psychotherapy in decades, EMDR has successfully treated psychological problems and illnesses in more than one million sufferers worldwide, with a rapidity that defies belief. In a new introduction, Shapiro presents the new applications of this remarkable therapy and the latest scientific research that demonstrates its efficacy.

3.0 out of 5 stars Unsure...., 23 April 2008
By Someone (Somewhere) - See all my reviews
I have just began doing EMDR therapy. When I started reading this book, it boosted my confidence with regards to my treatment. However, I found it a bit too positive, almost evangellicaly written.
So far, my EMDR treatment has been effective, but I have doubts over it being effective quite as quickly as it was implied in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars restarts / accelerates miracle human capacity to heal + live, 7 Jun 1997
By A Customer
At my art gallery I am privileged to offer this remarkable book with the following imprint -- "We nourish and celebrate the joy we share in our life by the sea." Sometimes though our happiness is interrupted by accident or illness -- the healthcare system may become vital to our life. With this understanding I have always given Cape Cod Hospital first priority in making financial contributions in our community and I served as a Trustee for nine years. Now I hope you will read this book to learn of an extraordinary advance in psychotherapy that may become helpful to you or to someone you care about. EMDR has been called "the miracle cure" which I believe it is -- for it restarts and accelerates the miracle human capacity to heal and to live life fully which has been overwhelmed by trauma too severe.

I don't want to win a contest. I want you to read this book. Then you will join with me in saying thank you, Francine.

Richard A. Frazee President Yankee Accent summer 1997
