3.0 out of 5 stars annoying, 14 July 2007
This review is from: Glamour (Hardcover)
this book could have been good but it somewhat ruined by the annoying innacuracies. eg. it is meant to be set in the 80s/early 90s but there are mentions of DVD's and E-bay.

if you are willing to overlook this, this book is undeniably glamorous and reasonably interesting. is the usual louise bagshawe type of book...similar to her early books rather than 'mondays child' etc.

i found the relationship between haya and her first husband probably the most intriguing and well written part of the book...more so that that of haya and her second husband, which seemed rather rushed.

2.0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate and unbelievable, 31 May 2007
This review is from: Glamour (Hardcover)
In a market completely saturated by chick lit books, in my opinion, Louise Bagshawe was in the top 10. This book, however, is decidedly mediocre.
We are expected to believe that these 3 'women' (barely more than teenagers) achieved all they did in such a short time? I don't think so.
Then there is the reference to ebay and other inaccuracies that I can't even be bothered to list. suffice it to say that I'm glad I bought it from a supermarket and didn't pay full price like a lot of readers.

2.0 out of 5 stars the 80's...?, 13 May 2007
By Lette Down (Queensland, Australia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Glamour (Hardcover)
Maybe I've missed something here - but Louise's latest offering tells us of three beautiful girls in the 80's who suddenly lose everything - typical Louise 'claw your way to the top' goodness. Yes, I think that's correct.

But explain to me this - Jane scores a minimum wage job at the local Shop Smart. Rhodri Evans, Shop Smart's Senior Vice-President of Marketing, West Coast, stands in front of a rack of DVD players to review her and her fellow workers performances. Am I just reading this wrong?

When Southern Belle Sally has to take her depressed mother back to Texas, she recalls of selling her designer clothes on eBay. I must be reading this wrong.

Rewind back to Sally's father telling his lawyers he isn't running some dot com company. I SURELY must be reading this wrong.

I have been a long time fan of Louise B's fantasy world books, but this truly is a little hard to swallow.

2.0 out of 5 stars Lazy...
I think all the flaws people have mentioned are down to laziness.

It seems the book was never in the hands of an editor because there are so many obvious mistakes... Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Unrealistic but still a great read
I love Louise Bagshawe's books and this one didnt disappoint. Yes there are inconsistences, ie dvds in the 1980s and it is unrealistic but its lovely light read! Read more

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply terrible
I would give this book no stars if I could. Firstly, the plot is basically exactly the same as most of her other novels - ie, a bunch of young, ridiculously good looking girls... Read more
