This hasn't been the easiest series to get into but I've stuck with it and at last I feel the writer has got to grips with it. This is easily the best written of the four , the writing flows and the storyline is less fractured and easier to follow. It's always been an interesting series and well-worth reading but none of the books really stand alone, you must read them in order or you will never follow the plot which is fairly torturous. What an imagination though!
The first three books concentrated on Ukiah , his past, his present and how he came to be. It introduced his 'Moms', his lover Indigo and friend and mentor Max. It also introduced the ferocious and lethal ' Pack ' who are devoted to him. This latest book however, is seen through the eyes of Atticus, the brother Ukiah didn't know he had, and who is just as complex a being as Ukiah. It tells the story of how they find themselves as brothers.
Atticus has always known he was 'different' but didn't know why and he has learned to function in the human world with the help of his lover, Ru, who is aware of his differences and helps to conceal them. They work as DEA agents and are tracking a dangerous new drug when their paths cross with Ukiah and The Pack. Atticus is initially hostile and reluctant to become a part of Ukiah's strange world.....but...
