2.0 out of 5 stars Poor SG-1 Book, 15 Jan 2002
By B. Green "BEans" (Brentwood, ESSEX United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This book should only be read by those that have not seen the television series. It spends the first half of the book re-analysing how the stargate works, and follows General Hammond around while he paper-pushes through the Cheneye complex. Those that know how the stargate works (as well as anyone can) should not buy the book or skip to page 80.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stargate on Earth, 30 Jun 2001
By A Customer
I like this book, but it's still not as good as the Morpheus Factor. This is the only book that is set predominately on Earth, and I liked that because the tv programme tends to remain offworld as well. But this book takes too long to set up the story, and when the action kicks in at the end it ends abruptly, which is why the Morpheus Factor is better (and I know I read them in the wrong order). But still, this is worth reading, and the background on Hammond and the logistics officers is good too. There is one mistake I found in it, but I really am not sure if it really is one. It is to do with when the reporter Kinsey first sees the Stargate, and he describes it as a ring with a metal iris closing it off. Forgive if I'm wrong, but isn't the iris only put into place when the Gate activates? But that's just me nitpicking. Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Good Read for any SG fan, 18 Nov 2000
By A Customer
The author has captured the characters well, with more info on the backgrounds. The story was easy to visualize, and I could actually hear the characters speaking, and see the scenes in my mind. The writing was good enough to be able to capture the imagination of anyone who loves the series. Keep up the good work, and keep them coming. Thanks
