5.0 out of 5 stars An Irish Dane, 13 Aug 2001
By Mr Tom Fitzgerald (London United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
This is one of the most enjoyable books I've read in many years. It chronicles the adventures of a young Irish Dane born in Dublin in the early years of Scandinavian expansion into Western Europe.

The hero experiences many adventures and misadventures during a journey around the British Isles by land and sea. Through most of the novel he is accompanied by one of the most unusual and engaging heroines you are likely to meet in fiction.

All of the characters are well drawn, and we meet good and bad Irishmen, Danes, Brits, Geats etc. etc. and the comical but dastardly "White Danes".

This is an outstanding historical novel with a little magic and fantasy thrown in to get it classified as Science Fantasy.

If you guess the final resolution of the relationship between the hero and heroine I will be surprised and you will be very pleased with yourself.

Read and enjoy.
