Harlan Coben

A remarkable debut... King's writing is gritty, vivid and suspenseful... a natural storyteller. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

3.0 out of 5 stars Action Packed Ending, 18 Jul 2005
Would have had 5 stars if max freeman didnt keep having flashbacks of the past cases.

The story line was just awsome, plenty of action and not a clue about the ending until the last few pages.

Excellent debut, will definitely try another one of his books.

5.0 out of 5 stars Blue Edge - Hard to put down., 19 Jan 2004
By Craig (Cotswolds - UK) - See all my reviews
A smashin' read and vary informative of the area - showing a side of Florida you don't see as a visitor. The excellent plot left many open as suspects until near the end. Hard to put down, looking forward to the next book.

Max should learn to say no. He'll get killed some day!

3.0 out of 5 stars Solid Mystery about Ex-Cop Caught in the Middle, 27 Feb 2006
Max Freeman, an ex-cop from Philadelphia, lives in the Florida Everglades in an old research shack. His reason for being a recluse is that he shot a young kid in self-defense on the streets of Philadelphia ,and he can’t seem to get it out of his head. His neck wound is a constant reminder of that day. Paddling down the river in his canoe, Max spots the fourth kid to turn up dead in a series of killings. The police suspect him at first, and the killer seems to have it in for Max as well. The book is carefully plotted mystery, and I enjoyed his flashbacks to his days on the force in Philadelphia. These stories help built his character, but we really don’t get much of his personality. He’s just an average Joe caught in the middle of things.
