4.0 out of 5 stars Very good read - with reservations, 16 Sep 2002

(REAL NAME)
The next chapter in the life and exploits of Michael Pacino is a good read. The usual characters make apperances, the plot moves along nice and quickly and some nasty Russians with backing from a multi-billion dollar businessman makes for an unusual if entertaining group of bad guys.

I think however we have almost ran out of steam with the Pacino character. He is less involved in this plot than in any other of the authors books. Most of the action takes place in the water in submarines, with Pacino behind a desk. This is no bad thing though, as we get more of a rounded story involving top level decisions from the admiral, and a few new captains doing the sub v sub action.

I was dissapointed though with a couple of the plot turns, the one with the cruise liner full of naval top brass is a stinker - the security risks are obvious. As was a certain Admirals rescue from the most certain death I have probably read in the authors books.

The story does come off pretty well in the end - with a good setup for the further adventures of the good Admiral.

2.0 out of 5 stars Irritating attempt at a techno thriller, 10 Aug 2002
By A Customer
The book is reasonably well written but I thought the plot highly implausible. Maybe I'm just naïve and the world really could be like this! (What good is a huge sum of money if you've destroyed the world's economy to get it?) The book fell well short of Tom Clancy's standard and was overall disappointing although I did have to finish it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excitement, drama and suspense it has it all!, 6 May 2001

This is the first of Michael Dimercurio's books I've read. Tom Clancy, Larry Bond and Dale Brown being my favourite authors. He is not out of place among these masters of technothrillers. I will definetly be buying the rest of his books...
