If you passed Daphne Urban on the streets of New York, you'd see a sleek brunette, young, dressed in up to the minute style. You'd never know she was a vampire. But the government knows. Their ultimatum: Spy for the United States, or be terminated. And after all these centuries, Daphne is not ready to call it quits. Even as vampires go, Daphne is extraordinary. She speaks thirteen languages, has lived in as many countries, and has a genius level IQ. She's also escaped detection and capture for nearly five hundred years - which makes her perfect for project Darkwing's most dangerous assignments. Her first mission is to get close to Bonaventure - a shady arms dealer with terrorist connections. But while she chases Bonoventure, someone else is chasing her - the darkly sexy vampire slayer Darius della Chiesa. His mission is to kill her - leaving him torn between desire and duty. For his lithe, lovely prey is also his ultimate temptation.

Good story with lots of mystery and excitement and magic, and a fallible but capable and likeable heroine. A little bit mills & boony with the sex/romance, but plenty of material still there for the later books.

Here's a sample:

"As if he knew I was watching him, he slowly turned to face me. He looked right at me, intently, deliberately, his eyes burning with intensity.

My body tensed. My heart started to thud in my chest. Feelings were crashing over me like waves. My instincts warned me to be careful, get ready to run. My rational mind took notice that he was drop-dead good-looking, almost fashion-model pretty, except for a puckered scar along his cheekbone. Almost in the same moment I realised what was setting of the alarm bells in my gut. He had clenched his fists and his face looked...I wasn't sure what - angry, perhaps predatory. Whatever it was it didn't feel friendly. The hair on the back of my neck stood up, and, unexpectedly, I felt a fleeting urge to transform. Reason overrode that reflex, and I thought I would go back up to the busy street above and hail a cab. But even as I was making that decision, the man moved..."

I am writing this review as is becomming increasingly prevalent in Romance books that have 1 point of view (1POV or first person narrative).

I bought this Book based on the reviews and the right ups that made it sound so exciting. However what they failed to include was the fact that was written in 1POV (and I couldn't get past the first 10pgs). For those readers that like that perspective then this will be a good book for you but if you are like me and prefer Multi points of view then I would advise that you miss it, as it seems to me like reading from a personal diary!!!.

Please can the publishers of 1POV narrative give notification to readers so that we do not waste my time and money buying a book we can not read.
