5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic and a 'must read' for everyone, 4 Jun 2004
By A Customer
This would be an amazing story if it were fiction. The fact that it is true makes it even more astonishing.

I really love this book. It is funny, sad, interesting and thought-provoking. There is something for everyone here - whether your interest is WW2 generally, bomber pilots or a moving love story.

It was with great sadness that I read recently of the death of Bob Morgan but he has left us with this fine book, which will ensure he'll be remembered forever as the great man he was.

Read it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Atmospheric and amusing, 26 Nov 2001
By A Customer
I really, really enjoyed this book. It's well written and makes you feel like you're in the story. It also gives you a real feel of the atmosphere in the plane and the sense of Comradeship that the aircrews felt, without dwelling on sentimentality. I found it very funny in places, which surprised me as it didn't look like the kind of book that would have anything remotely amusing in it. I haven't read any other war time memoirs, although after reading this it won't be long before I read more, so I don't really have anything to compare it too. One thing I can say is, read this INSTEAD of watching the film as its much better, more atmospheric, and un-cleched.

Its just great, I nearly cried when I finished reading it because I found out that Bob Morgan had passed away just last May. Reading the book made me feel just as if he was one of my good friends.
Read it, you will love it.

Rest in peace Bob, you are now back up there.
