Somebody Else's Child Receives Two Anthony Award Nominations
Somebody Else's Child has been nominated for two Anthony Awards--one for Best First Mystery Novel of 1996 and another for Best Paperback Original of 1996. Winners will be announced on November 1 at this year's Bouchercon which will be held in Monterey, California.
Somebody Else's Child was awarded the Chester Himes Award earlier this year and was also nominated for an Agatha Award.

AND A LOT OF HER MOTHERS OLD SAYINGS REMINDED ME OF THE PEOPLE IN MY LIFE. VERY TALENTED MYSTERY WRITER. (Report this)   THE FIRST SENTENCE GRABBED ME!, 14 Aug 1998 By A Customer Mrs. Grimes has made these characters so real that the only aspect missing is seeing them in the flesh. Theresa's mother kept tears (of laughter) in my eyes. This book is so action packed, the dialogue so real-life that this reader felt at one with the characters, scenes, and action. The book reads quickly and dares you to put it down! ...and that last sentence (Please don't peek!) will hook you as a Theresa Galloway fan!  Comment | Permalink | Was this review helpful to you? (Report this)   I thought it was a realistic view of a black community, 25 Jul 1998 By A Customer I loved the plot of the doctor and his wife who would have thought that rich old lady could do those killings all to protect a man who has been dead for years.I really liked the realtionship between Teresa and her mom.
