This book is a sequel to The Legend which tells the story of Jamie MacCurrie and his lady love. The hero of The Destiny is Neil MacCurrie, Jamies twin, who shares a Highland prophecy and a telepathic link to his brother.

On his return to England from France Neil must travel overland through a hostile England on the way to his beloved Highlands. He is told of a safe house where he may rest on his journey, however, he is betrayed and taken hostage. Eileen, the possible grand-daughter of a king tries to protect Neil and ultimately helps him to escape. Neil promises to return and when he does finds Eileen in danger at the royal court in London. Neil is promised to a scottish woman from another clan. His loyalty to the Clan, his king and Eileen conflict and he must choose which path his future will take.
This was the first book by Kathleen Givens I have read. I found it very informative about the period, although the names to remember seemed daunting at times. I read it in one session without any breaks because I wanted to see how it ended, so it obviously held my attention! The heroine was strong but the author did not lose track of the fact that in the period depicted women did not have a great deal of choice in their lives!
You do not have to read the Legend before you read this book , but it does give you clues as to the story of the first book.
Although I liked The Destiny and it was well written I have to admit that I only finished this book yesterday and I have had to re-read a few lines at the end of the book to remember the storyline and how it ended - so probably not a keeper!
