5.0 out of 5 stars excellent fantasy time travel, 5 Aug 1999
By A Customer
When Dallas resident Chloe Kingsley stepped through the time portal in 1996, all she wanted was to find her missing spouse Cheftu and understand the language of the era. Chloe soon realizes that she landed (loosely put) in the Mediterranean when she is rescued by Philistines who, believing she must be a tail-less mermaid, take her to a temple in Gaza.

Meanwhile, Cheftu is also in the same time period, but happens to be in Egypt where he finds himself in trouble by disrespecting the Sun God. However, circumstances and needs soon allow Cheftu to join Chloe as both become vassals to the Hebrew King David. Cheftu finds lost gold while Chloe helps with military strategy. The Hebrews must contend with the evil RaEm, who gained knowledge of the twentieth century when she occupied Chloe's body for two years. Only with Chloe and Cheftu and the powerful Ark of the Covenant does David have any hope to defeat his foe.

SUNRISE ON THE MEDITERRANEAN, the latest Chloe-Cheftu ancient historical saga, is an intelligent mixing of biblical characters with modern day time travelers. The action-packed and picturesque story line makes the lands along the Mediterranean seem as if they exist so we can see them for ourselves. The characters appear genuine including those written about in the Old Testament. Awesome Suzanne Frank has written a classic novel that along with its' predecessors (REFLECTION IN THE NILE and SHADOWS ON THE AEGEAN) that fans will enjoy for years to come.
