Product Description

Product Description

The book offers a description and demonstration of a method for changing health behaviours based on brief negotiation with clients. It is written in a very stimulating style, engaging the reader from the first page. After an introductory section, the fundamental principles behind the method are explored. The third section deals with application. Client scenarios and snippets from practitioner/client interactions are used throughout the book to illustrate practical applications of theoretical points.

4.0 out of 5 stars Commen sense approach to working with behaviour change., 22 April 2001
By A Graham (Quarrington Hill, Durham United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
After attending a workshop with one of the authors Stephen Rollnick as the trainer I quickly became hooked on the commen sense approach which he developed to work with behaviour change. As a person centred trained counsellor this model fits perfectly with the core of Rogerian counselling but with the added tool of being slightly more directive without being in control. For anyone who works with clients requiring some form of change to their lifestyle I can highly recomend this book. It's layout is very inviting to read and the content keeps you eager to read on and soak up the information, I found it hard to put down once opened!

3.0 out of 5 stars Health Behavior Change, 15 Jul 2009

I was very disappointed with the condition of this book when I received it. It was classified as in "good" condition, but there are many pages that have highlighted sections with underlinings and the corners of the pages turned down. The content of the book is excellent and very helpful.
