Product Description

Product Description

"Highly Commended, Dental Prize, Society of Authors Medical Book Awards 2000" This book is designed to explain to dental students the processes of diagnosis and treatment planning, through consideration of clinical cases and problems which involve aspects of all the dental specialties. Dental students need to learn to cope with the fact that the problems of an individual patient do not necessarily fall into neat categories. They may require a combination of operative, periodontal and prosthodontic treatment - as the book is based around clinical cases and problems, it enables them to do this, and also prepares the student for their final exams and the real world of clinical practice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderfully readable, 11 Feb 2001
By A Customer
This is an utterly fantastic book. It is a series of clinical cases (A patient with tooth ache/A swollen face/A worn dentition/A sudden collapse etc), each about 3-4 pages long and written by a relevant clinician.

For each, history, presenting features, differential diagnosis, possible investigations and management are gone through. All relevant photos and xrays are provided and heavy use is made of tables and lists.

The small chunks are very readable and somehow, without even noticing, you end up learning stuff. Its one of those books you can dip in and out of.

I lent my principle my copy and haven't seen it since. Seriously thinking about ordering another.

I am a final year dental student who found this book to be exactly what was needed for clinical vivas. It provides a good insight into the thinking of experienced practitioners when adressing common clinical problems.
