Product Description
Synopsis
"Last's Anatomy" has for many editions been regarded as the standard text for all those training in surgery. Dealing with the anatomy of the human body on a regional basis, it emphasises the clinical and applied aspects of the subject for undergraduates and postgraduate trainees in medicine, surgery and dentistry. The last two editions were revised by Professor McMinn, who through working for the Royal College of Surgeons, was able to ensure that it evolved in line with the changes to the first part of the FRCS exam. The new author Sinnatamby also works for the college and is instrumental in the latest changes to the exam and the creation of the new MRCS, at which this book will be targeted.

4.0 out of 5 stars Concise anatomy book aimed at MRCS students, 15 Nov 2000
By A Customer
Last's anatomy has been fuly updated in this tenth edition.

The book looks more compact and writing has been condensed down efficiently.

Most illustrations are the famous diagrams from previous editions and are often quite good but one usually finds Grant's atlas to be far superior in this regard.

The text is good. I find this to be the major advantage of the book. There is a lot of information cleverly packed into as small an amount of writing as possible.

I feel this book is only suitable for those who already have some familiarity with anatomy and so is not really a first book for students to learn from.

Aimed primarily for the MRCS student - I can see it serving them very well indeed - but would recommend the use of other books in conjunction with Last's to aid with understanding.

5.0 out of 5 stars This book has it all, 20 Jun 2004
I love this book. It's so comprehensive and concise. Even the most obscure anatomical detail will be covered and explained. As someone else has said, this is not an atlas and not a beginners book, it's wordy and detailed and fantastic.

This is a much loved anatomy text book. It is now much better, beautifully illustrated, and edited to make it much more relevant to surgical trainees. Readable, relevant, and very clear.
