The Sunday Times, 31st March 2002

Huge fun. It's reassuring too, and shows that even families who drive each other bonkers love each other. --This text refers to the Hardcover edition.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a giggle!, 30 May 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Quigleys (Hardcover)
There are 4 stories, one for each member of the family. Dad is a distracted sort of person who can be friendly when he feels like it, Mum is a bit stressed, Lucy is a very determined little person and Will, he likes the beano and harpy eagles.
My favourite story is Lucy's. She refuses to wear a bridesmaids dress and wants to go as a bee. In Will's story he gets an obsession with harpy eagles, and the depiction of school at Christmas is hilarious! Especially strict Miss Strickland.
This is a funny and familiar depiction of family life, I love it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great book to read aloud to your class, 16 May 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Quigleys (Hardcover)
The year 3 class at school enjoyed The Quigleys. It made them laugh out loud, but it also gave them the opportunity to discuss how people feel at certain times. The characters are lovely - and as there are only 4, everyone in class could follow and really get to know them. The children were very disappointed when the book finished!

5.0 out of 5 stars This story is about a family that is very different., 7 May 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: The Quigleys (Hardcover)
This story is about a family that is very different. Mum is like all mums really. She is kind but grumpy sometimes. She doesn't always tell people where she is going. Will is quiet and determined. Lucy is stubborn and doesn't much care what people think about her. Dad is kind.
I liked the way Helen Stephenson's pictures are like a child's drawing. I thought you wrote a really good book.
Lorel - aged 7.
