Product Description

Amazon.co.uk Review

Bad Girls, Jacqueline Wilson's eighth title, is read here in unabridged form by Josie Lawrence. It deals lightly but sensitively with the terrible pain suffered by a 10-year-old girl when she becomes the victim of vicious bullying at school. When the over-protected, intelligent Mandy is cast out by her so called girl "friends" at school she takes up with the trendy, cheerful 14-year-old Tanya. Because Mandy reminds Tanya of her much-loved kid sister in care, and because she too is lonely, the two quickly become best friends. But Tanya's unhappy life has made her turn to petty crime and before long Mandy finds herself in deep water. Bad Girls is a delightful and important book, dealing very well indeed with difficult emotional and social issues. The story is presented on three cassettes and runs for four hours and 20 minutes. --Tamsin Palmer --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Bad Girls is Jacqueline Wilson's eighth title. Her previous books include The Suitcase Kid which won the 1993 Children's book Award, and Double Act, which won both the Smarties Prize and the Children's Book Award in 1995. Bad Girls deals lightly but sensitively with the terrible pain suffered by a 10-year-old girl when she becomes the victim of vicious bullying at school. 4.0 out of 5 stars Brill Book, 3 Mar 2008
By Mehajabeen Farid "Mej_da_reviewer" (Coventry) - See all my reviews
(TOP 1000 REVIEWER)
Mandy had been picked on at school for a really long time by a big bully, called Kim, her used-to-be best friend, named Melanie, and Sarah, who herself doesn't want to get picked on so she hangs around with Kim. Now, Mandy has got a new best friend - badly behaved, mischievous but also lots of fun to be with, Tanya. Mandy and Tanya can stay out of trouble even though shop lifting is in the air (or can't they)...
Jacqueline Wilson has done it again. This book is another of her brilliant, (though always alike each other), ones that you can't not enjoy. I think Nick Sharratt did good drawings for this book. Nevertheless, the pictures should have been in colour because each chapter was named after a colour of the rainbow and it included that colour within itself. For example, in the chapter called green, the word green was mentioned in this passage: It was a green, velvet, crinkled hairband.
Approximately 10, 00000 (ten million) copies of her books have been published and she has received many awards including the Smarties prize (1995) and the Children's book award (1995) for her book `Double Act' or the children's Book Award (1993) for her book `The Suitcase Kid'.
Rating and recommendation: I would rate this book 9/ 10 and I would recommend it to children 8 years old and over.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another brilliant must read by Jacqueline Wilson, 11 Mar 2002
By A Customer
Another excellent book by Jacqueline Wilson. It is about a girl called Mandy. She is always getting bullied at school one day on her way home she gets hit by a bus. There are lots of different accounts of the incident and her mum wants to find out why her baby was really hurt. Suddenly when things couldn't get any worse a new girl moves in across the road and they become best buddies. Tanya, her new friend, seems to scare the bullies of one day when she comes to meet Mandy after school things seem to good to last and they are. Tanya has a dark secret that she has not told any one which Mandy finds out about by accident. Tanya can only get Mandy out of trouble or can she! I would suggest it to 6 - 12 year olds because it is funny, witty and realistic. This is another must read by this brilliant author

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book for early teens and definatly worth reading., 25 Mar 2002
By A Customer
This is an excellent book by Jacqueline Wilson. This is a story of how a young girl makes friends with the wrong person. She starts off as a normal good girl, but she makes friends with someone who has a bad in fluence on her. All of a sudden she starts stealing, it all gets out of hand and she is in big trouble. This is a great read for people aged 9 - 14 about a real life situation.
