5.0 out of 5 stars "Right to the End", 2 Oct 2001
By A Customer
This is the last book of Donald Burgett's journey from raw recurit to war weary veteran at the end of W.W.2 . This book follows the 101st Division from Bastogne to the end of the war. With the Battle of the Bulge won, this final book in the series deals more with the aftermath of the war and the horrors of the concentration camps that were uncovered as the German army collapsed and retreated. "The Bulge" was the last major action that the 101st took part in during W.W.2 and with the end of the war in sight, survival was just as important as forcing the German Army back into Germany and their final surrender. Although this book, obviously lacks the "action" of the author's three earlier books about D-Day, Arnhem and The Bulge, this one is no less enjoyable. With this book we see the chaos that was Europe at the end of the war and the problems that ensued. In short, if this period of history intrests you then this book is well worth reading.

5.0 out of 5 stars The truth, 26 Aug 2004
Donald Burgett and all others who have fought in any war are truly remarkable people. This is the final book in a series of four and tells of the final battles of WW2 and of the bravery and attempt to survive now that the war is nearing it's close. It also shows the injustice in how the soldiers remained in Europe and returned home in the winter of 1945. But it also shows the interesting discoveries made by individual soldiers once the Germans were defeated, such as a train full of Gold and US currency.

An excellent and interesting final instalment, by a great man.
