Product Description

From the Author

Reviews and a summary!
Brianna has no intention of marrying for anything other than love - when the king decrees that she must wed one of the sons of the man who conquered her father's holding, Brianna has other ideas. She devises a quest fitting of a bard's tale and declares that she will wed the brother who brings her a gift that makes her laugh loudest and longest.

She never imagines that the eldest brother, Luc, won't even go.

"A marvelously beautiful tale of love! Six Bells!" Bell, Book & Candle

"An exciting medieval that's not to be missed!" Old Book Barn Gazette

"Reading the Princess is like sipping vintage wine - delectable!" Rendezvous

Claire Delacroix also writes fantasy romance as Claire Cross!

5.0 out of 5 stars A jewel of a book., 30 Aug 1998
By A Customer
Princess Brianna finds her life turned upside-down when her home, Castle Tullymullagh, is captured & she is ordered by King Henry to marry one of the sons of the man who now holds her castle. Determined to wed only for love, Brianna stalls a wedding by sending the sons on a quest. She says that she will wed the man who brings her a gift which makes her laugh louder & longer than any other gift. Two of the brothers leave in search of such a gift, but Luc refuses what he feels is a request from a spoiled princess. Brianna, outraged by his refusal to leave on the quest, chases Luc down prepared to convince him to leave. However, she finds herself intrigued by him & seeks to know him better. The two become close when murder & intrigue soon invade the castle. As they fall in love, both Brianna & Luc worry what will happen when the remaining brothers return and a decision must be made. This book has a strong plot, interesting secondary characters & a gentle love story. I look forward to the next book in The Bride Quest trilogy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enchanting, refreshing and amusing., 8 May 2002
By A Customer
This book is not a bodice ripper. The love scenes are not lurid or pornographic. There is no standard storyline re-hashed with the same old personalities bearing just different coloured hair and eyes to the last bodice ripper that you read. This is a well written (if slightly seasonally misguided) yarn, with wit and warmth and the gradual building of a love based on trust and intelligence (and great kissing). Something you can really believe in. Characters were passionate and amusing. Mystery story was a tad predictable but what isn't these days. I loved this book because it was just a little different and appreciated that real attraction starts in the mind and not in a swarthy complexion. Highly recommend it to intelligent readers looking for romance but bored with the usual offal.

5.0 out of 5 stars a great plot and a keep you wondering mystery, 3 Jul 1999
By A Customer
This was such a great a book. Despite the mistake of the season thing, i thought it was nice to see a change in the usual stories that i read. You keep guessing who the bad guy is and wondering who she'll have to pick to marry. A great book that should be read by everyone.
