3.0 out of 5 stars The Final Book in the JA saga, 1 Jan 2003
By A Customer
This book is very good, although I have only given it a 3 star rating as the storyline's essence is basically the same as that seen in the Defenders of the Dead, book 5 in the series. One flaw was that some things are not explained, for example, why were the adults so driven by their work??? I was a bit disappointed as I felt it wasn't a satisfying end to the Jedi Apprentice Series. If you follow the series, you have to read it. I have read every book in the series and feel that this could be much improved. It seems to take the whole book to show that Obi-Wan has grown up. However, I liked the parts where Qui-Gon admits to himself that he doesn't want Obi-Wan to grow up. An average read.

2.0 out of 5 stars A dreadful anticlimax., 21 Jun 2002

Although some of the Jedi Apprentice books have been very good, I've found the majority to be stale and a bit dull. I was hoping that this, the final JA book, would be one of the good ones. I was disappointed.
Basically this is a reprint of Jedi Apprentice books 5 and 6 in condensed form. Although Obi-Wan does occasionaly recognise the similarity between this mission and that previous one, he never seems to grasp that he's replaying it exactly.
Basically, the only point to this book is to show that Qui-Gon sees that Obi-Wan is growing up. As if we needed a whole book for that, I mean, it's hardly a shocker.
In conclusion; I was sorely disappointed with this book and am very glad the series has ended before they can bring out more of this rubbish.
