This is the first novel in a new series of Star Wars novels by Jude Watson aimed at younger readers set in between EpIII:Revenge of the Sith and EpIV:A New Hope. It shows how Obi-Wan is adjusting to the shocking changes in the Galaxy depicted in EPIII and how he is settiling into living on Tatooine. However it is not long before the plot moves to Obi-Wan leaving on a mission to help a former member of the Jedi Order. I wont spoil anymore of the story for you as the book is fairly short.

I found the plot very interesting and if your a big fan of the Star Wars novels this will be a good choice for a quick read even if it is aimed at younger readers. Plus it has a nice reference to older Star Wars material, which is the introduction of a new Imperial Inquisitor(Force sensitive Jedi Hunters). which is notable as Imperial Inquisitors have been used in a number of older Star Wars short stories. Good Start to what will hopefully be a fun slice of the Star Wars Saga.

This is my second time I have read this book and I LOVE it !
In this story, Obi-Wan is there on Tatooine to watch over Luke, constantly thinking about Anakin.
During the first part of the story, Obi-Wan is SO sad and depressed, having lost a loved one - his former apprentice Anakin Skywalker. First this made my eyes blurred with tears.
Then next, you see Obi-Wan secretly watching 1 year old (?) Luke playing around the house when the sun is setting beautifully. When I read this part with this Ben's Theme (Force Theme) playing in my head, those tears of mine were . . . just rolling down my cheeks. ( sniff )
Anyway, there are two people who play important parts in this LotJ story. Ferus Olin - 25 year old former Jedi, and his partner Trever Flume - 14 year old boy with blue hair. Ferus used to be Anakin's rival back in the old days and often joined him and his Master Obi-Wan on several dangerous missions.
In this story, Ferus and Trever become close friends and inseparable like Obi-Wan and Anakin. It REALLY is a lovely book.
And one other thing - those who want to know more about Ferus should read Jedi Quest books #1 - #10 written by Jude Watson. I also recommend those JQ books for any Anakin/Obi-Wan fans :)

THE STORY:
A year after 'Revenge of the Sith', Obi-Wan Kenobi is living a solitary life on Tatooine, mourning his dead Jedi friends and watching over young Luke Skywalker. However, when Obi-Wan learns that his friend the former Jedi Padawan Ferus Olin is alive but in danger, he chooses to go on one last mission; to rescue the last of the Jedi and sow the seeds of Rebellion.

WHAT'S GOOD:
Watson gives us all the exciting quality of her Jedi Quest series but without Anakin's irritating persona messing things up. A character like Obi-Wan rarely gets any decent character development, but the opposite is true here as the aging Jedi has to fight off anger and despair in order to find the focus needed to secure the future of the galaxy. There are two major villains in this book, the first being the Imperial Iquisitor (a Dark Jedi) Malorum, who is investigating a place called Polis Massa (where Luke and Leia are born). The other threat, making a welcome return, is Boba Fett! Fett is assisted by another hunter named D'harhan (a cyborg with a cannon for a head!), who some might recognise from the Bounty Hunter Wars books.

WHAT'S BAD:
Only that the story is left largely unresolved, meaning we have to wait until August to find out what happens next.
