4.0 out of 5 stars Stick with it, it get's better., 23 Jan 2004

THE STORY:
Obi-Wan and Anakin are sent to the Uziel system to stop a war but their adventures will lead Anakin into the clutches of the evil scientist Jenna Zan Arbor and Obi-Wan into the nest of gundarks mentioned in 'Attack Of The Clones'.

WHAT'S GOOD:
This started off as just another rehash of the old 'impending civil war' story done to death in the Jedi Apprentice series but then it suddenly became something more interesting and exciting. It's given depth by the effect of the drug on Anakin and how it changes his perceptions of his relationship with Obi-Wan. It's also made exciting by the battle with the gundarks and the dramatic arrival of the other Jedi. Series staples Siri, Ferus, Ry-Gaul and Tru are back in action and Watson brings some of her Jedi Apprentice characters (namely Garen Muln, Clee Rhara and Jenna Zan Arbor) up to date as well.

WHAT'S BAD:
Although exciting, the nest of gundarks here is a bit of a waste of the adventure implied in the film line and in the film Obi-Wan says that Anakin was nervous at the time, whereas here he is entirely calm. A silly oversight, if you ask me. Another bad element is the general plot structure; with a galaxy as diverse at the Star Wars one, you'd think the Jedi would do more than just get caught up in civil war after civil war. Let's hope for a more innovative background story in future.

Jedi galore and gundarks even more!

4.0 out of 5 stars The prison, 29 Nov 2003
By A Customer
This is a great read, containing many favourite characters near the end like, Tru Veld, Ferus Olin and there Masters. we even get to meet some of the greatest piolets in the Order and obi-wans old friends. This book shows us how Obi-wan and Anakin's relationship is on the verge of breackdown but they must find new rythems and build back there relationship, because if they don't one will die and one will be emprisoned. I think this should of being written over the space of two books there are enough themes and storylines combined into this one book you can get lost. But i found this book exciting, it makes you sit on the edge of your seat, thats why i gave it 4 stars, i can't wait for the next book to come out i hope its longer because as i have said before i don't want the adventure to end
