4.0 out of 5 stars Jedi Quest 3 the return to podracing, 28 Oct 2002
I've found that Jude Watson is an imaginative writer who describes the life and relasionship of Anakin and Obi-wan kenobi very effectively. In the Jedi Quest books i've found that Anakins past is always brought to the present, this book is from my point of view the best so far but i've only read the first 3 books and can't wait to read numbers 4&5.
Jedi Quest book 3 goes back to Anakins past when Anakin and Obi-Wan K enobi are sent to the galatic games with Siri and her padawan Ferus Olin and Tur Veld with his master Ry-Gaul (also in Jedi Quest book 1). When Anakin gets there he over hears a discussion of an illegel podrace and tracks it down but when he gets there he is in for a surprice, when he meets his old rival Sabulbal and his son Hakula, though he has been a padawan for 5-6 years Anakin is stil effected by his past and can not control his temper yet, Thought Obiwan is there Anakin can not resist the frill of podracing even thought, as a Jedi Anakin is suppost to forget his past and look a head to the future, but against Obiwans approval Anakin enters and has to face head on his most darkest fears but in that time obiwan is tracking a killer or shall i say killers.
But don't for get that Ferus Olin is Anakins rival and can not help but be watchful of Anakin as we all know if you read the 1st book that Ferus said "I will keep looking. I will watch you, Anakin Skywalker" and he isn't lieing.

5.0 out of 5 stars Podracing returns., 27 Sep 2004
By Ian Tapley "thefragrantwookiee" - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
THE STORY:
Obi-Wan and Anakin, along with their friends and fellow Jedi Siri Tachi, Ferus Olin, Ry-Gaul and Tru Veld, are sent to assure the security of the Galactic Games. They discover a sinister conspiracy underlying the games, but Anakin is distracted by the illegal Podraces and the presence of his hated enemy Sebulba.

WHAT'S GOOD:
I really enjoyed the return of Podracing (it was one of Episode I's best bits) and particularly the return of Sebulba (who now has a son, Hekula, and Anakin's old podracer). Anakin's hatred for Sebulba not only distracts him from his duty but also blinds him to the real cheaters in the race, showing that he has a misled version of Qui-Gon's affinity for 'pathetic lifeforms'. Other than several of Episode I's podracers, this book also features the return of Didi and Astri Oddo from the Jedi Apprentice series. I found Obi-Wan's interaction with Didi and Astri much more interesting now he is a Jedi Master.

WHAT'S BAD:
One problem I did have with this book is that some of the games scenes were all to reminiscent of the Jedi Apprentice book 'The Day Of Reckoning'.
