4.0 out of 5 stars Deceptions by Jude Watson, 30 Nov 2001
By A Customer
THE STORY:

Obi-Wan Kenobi must clear his name of the murder of Bruck Chun whilst Qui-Gon Jinn investigates the sabotage of Jedi ships. Twelve years later, Obi-Wan and his own apprentice, Anakin Skywalker, are sent on a mission where they must face Bruck Chun's vengeful family.

THE LIGHT SIDE:

This is a great novelty idea, crossing-over the two master-apprentice story arcs. And it may be a hint towards Jude Watson's forthcoming Episode II Jedi Apprentice series. Also, you get the impression that Palpatine's evil machinations are involved although not mentioned, because even when they think they've found the culprits, there are still loose ends. I liked the introduction of JA background characters into the post-TPM era too.

THE DARK SIDE:

Because it is basically two stories and the JA books aren't long anyway, each of the tales seems a bit abrupt in places. Of course, there is also the snag that I just plain dislike Anakin Skywalker. No author yet has managed to make me empathise with the little brat. Roll on Darth Vader I say!

THE CAMEOS:

Garen Muln.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very Good, 5 Nov 2001
By A Customer
This book and all the rest of the Jedi apprentice books are very good.
If you like star wars and like reading more about releationship between characters then just lots of fighting and things, you'll love this book.
Keep in mind that this is a children's book and it's a quick read book. If you're after very detailed type books or you're use to reading adult star wars books, you might find this too brief.
I love adult star war books and i also loved this serious of books. My advice is that you read the whole serious in order before you start this. Otherwise you'll find something's too brief and gets you lost. At the very least, you should have watched the phatom manace before reading these.
Give it a go!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best One In The Series So Far!, 21 Aug 2001
By D. Lewis (London, England) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This book is easily better than any that has come before in the series. We follow first Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan as Obi-Wan is accused of murdering another Jedi student - Bruck Chun (Jedi Apprentice 7). Qui-Gon & Obi-Wan must now fight to prove that the incident was not Obi-Wan's fault. But even if they succeed, Obi-Wan will still have made an enemy of Bruck's father and brother. Then 12 years later, (3 years after "The Phantom Menace") Obi-Wan and his Padawan - 12 year old Anakin Skywalker (who is unaware of Obi-Wan's past) are sent on a mission in which Bruck's father and brother are involved, which may influence the outcome of the mission. This will have you gripped from beggining to end. A definite must read for anyone who has been following the rest of the series.
