Product Description

There's a best-loved bear competition at school and Tim is going to enter his teddy bear, Toby. But Toby is threadbare and very scruffy. He even has a plaster on his nose! Tim starts to worry. What will everyone say when they see such an old and battered bear?

4.0 out of 5 stars using this book at a playgroup, 23 Jul 2001
By A Customer
I am a librarian, and I like to use this story with children about to leave playgroup for school.I have an old bear-my sister's-which is over 60 years old.At an appropriate point in the story I produce a paper bag and ask the children to look inside. Out comes the bear, with bandage on ear and plaster on his nose, as in the story.Children find it hard to imagine he is 6o years old, but are interested to see that he has glass eyes, is stuffed with kapok and wood shavings, and will definitely NOT go in the washing machine!

5.0 out of 5 stars What a winner !, 11 April 2001
By A Customer
My children loved this so much when it went back to the library I had to buy a copy. Every child has a favourite teddy and this book picks up on that. It teaches that if you love something looks don't matter and that love will be rewarded. Its a book I never object to reading and always leaves me with a warm glow!

4.0 out of 5 stars A loving, warm and cuddly sort of read., 20 Nov 2000
By A Customer
This is a simple and sensitive story about a bear who is quite literally loved to bits. The beautiful illustrations reflect the warmth of the text and it has prompted a new relationship with my children (2 and 3) and their bears.
