Product Description

Product Description

You've probably heard of Al Capone. He is dead famous for: being handy with a machine gun, having one or two scars and hanging around with a rather nasty gang. But did you know that Al lived with his mum all his life, was a trend-setter in banana-coloured suis, and went bananas in Alcatraz prison?

4.0 out of 5 stars A good read for an older child., 28 Nov 2006
By ABCeDar - See all my reviews
(TOP 50 REVIEWER)
From the popular DEAD FAMOUS series of books `Al Capone and his Gang`.

`Al Capone - `Scarface`. The greatest gangster of all time and dead famous as a BAD man. If you know about Al Capone from watching gangster movies, you'll know that he was evil, ugly, rich and ruthless. That he drove fast cars (50 miles an hour in those days) and smoked big cigars. But is that the real Al Capone - or just the legend?.......

192 pages dedicated to the life of the gangster and his `friends`.

Split into chapters:-

Introduction
Part 1 - The Rise of Al Capone
Young Capone
Capone in Chicago
Al's Empire
Part 2 - The Reign of Al Capone
Crowning Capone
Nice-Guy Capone
Killing Capone
Part 3 - The Fall of Al Capone
Cops and Robbers
Al in the Dock
Convict Capone

Written in a variety of fonts with humorous black and white cartoon illustrations throughout, this is a good read for an older child.

5.0 out of 5 stars Al Capone and His Gang, 18 Aug 2003
This is a great book, maybe written more like a chrildren's book, but then all the facts you wanted to know are so simple to get to,with lots of diagrams to help out too-so simplistic...

4.0 out of 5 stars See our 'DEAD FAMOUS' review of the same book, re-badged!, 6 Jan 2007

This series has now been re-badged as the 'DEAD FAMOUS' series of children's books, and some of those are now being published as the 'HORRIBLY FAMOUS' series of books, so it is VERY EASY to DULPICATE a choice of book!

I bought this book at school in early 2000. It is pretty well researched, but there are several incorrect facts in in. Phillip Reeves' illustations are all really good. Read more
