5 of 5 people found the following review helpful:
5.0 out of 5 stars Superb new novel. Wall's best, 19 April 2003
By A Customer
A wonderful cast of utterly believable characters and a plot that seems to go everywhere and yet constantly amplifies and
re-informs. Alan Wall's Lightning Cage and other books were already outstanding. This novel confirms him as the best social
novelist I have read in years, and probably the best one still alive!
M.J.Harrison's review in The Guardian (you can read it online)
says it all a whole lot better than I can. All I can add to it
is - buy it! It really will prove to you that good fiction is
still being written and that the novel is well and truly alive.
If it doesn't win the Booker, well, no surprises. Books this good generally don't. But it should get all the accolades going.
A great page-turner, too!
