This book is for the foundation level of beauty therapy. It covers the necessary criteria for the NVQ Level 1 qualification in this vocational area. It is well written and is easy for the student to read with explanations of new words indicated throughout. The relevant laws are written in an easy to understand format for the student that is studying beauty therapy. The tables for beauty basics, tech tools and lotions and potions are good referral material for students at Level 2, for what is needed to perform a variety of treatments. In the manicure and facial sections (that are identified by correct Unit numbers) there are explanations about why you need the beauty basics, tech tools, and lotions and potions and what they are used for. A reminder to tutors and senior therapists that although we know what they are for, someone coming into this exciting and varied (but hard working field)the new student does not. Throughout there are useful graphics to give visual variety for the reader and easy reference to 'treatment needs' or 'client processes'. A good book that should be a course handbook for Level 1 students. It would have received 5 stars, however there were some minor spelling errors :-)

i found this book very helpful to read before starting my level 1 course, but once i had started studying at college i thought that it didnt help me much with assignments, assesments etc and i need to get more indepth books.
a good read if interested but not if essential beauty therapy knowledge is needed.
