4.0 out of 5 stars The tension builds with this thriller, 10 Jun 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Cold Steel (Paperback)
This is a story with more violence and gore than I usually read but the author has built up the tension so skillfully that you have to keep reading to find out what happens.

The double storylines are not confusing and although I had an inkling about the conclusion earlier in the book, I didn't manage to guess the whole outcome.

If you like Kathy Reichs and Patricia Cornwell, you'll like this book but if you've got a weak stomach, it might not be the best one for you.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great "Prime Suspect" style suspense thriller..., 14 Aug 2000
By A Customer
This review is from: Cold Steel (Paperback)
I agree with the previous reviewer that this is a great book for the beach. However, I would add that the pace, characterisation and setting are all excellent, a real page turner. My only real disappointment came with the finale, which felt a little rushed and did not do the book full justice. Still a good read and well recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars I read it in one sitting, 23 Jan 2000
By A Customer
Like Julie Parsons, this book relies on its Dublin setting. I thought the good guys were very good and the bad guys were very evil. This is the authors second outing and I expect that later efforts will present more balanced characters. Still in all, I enjoyed the book very much. Without spoiling it for you, the story touches on the themes of heroin trafficking, politics, medical professional jealousy, the ethics of the medical profession, and the dilligence of the Gardaí.

A run of the mill thriller to while away some idle hours. Not bad but far short of the best in the genre.
