Kate Connor lives the life of a stay-at-home wife and mother in the pleasant little town of San Diablo. Kate's secret, however, is that in her youth she was a demon-hunter, and now her past is catching up with her. Demons have come to San Diablo, and she has to start using her old skills again. She finds that combining demon-hunting with looking after a two-year-old son and a teenage daughter isn't easy. It's also difficult to identify who are the good guys and who are the bad.

This is quite an amusing story, though I personally could have done with a bit more demon-hunting and a bit less detail about her wife and mother activities. The first half of the book is rather too bogged down in details of Kate's suburban life, though there is more action in the second half. It's quite a good story, though I feel it could have been both funnier and more exciting.

This book cannot decide what it wants to be; a serious story about the difficulties of being a mother, or a Buffy the Vampire Slayer clone. The added humour makes it a little more bearable, however this still remains a slow read that you will have to concentrate on to stop your mind wandering to more interesting things...
