5.0 out of 5 stars You mean he's not really Scottish?, 28 Mar 2003
Yes, Rowdy Roddy Piper isn't really Scottish! It's devasting news to us Scots who thought we had one of our own as a wrestling legend. Still, this book really cheered me up after that bombshell. Piper tells like it is, as he's done his whole career and it makes for a hugely fasinating and very readable book. The only downsides are that he doesn't go into much about his WWF days after Wrestlemania 2 and more or less ignores his few years in WCW. Is he maybe saving it for Volume2? Hopefully! Another thing is Piper comes across very bitter of the success Hulk Hogan had, but bitter wrestlers make very good reading.

4.0 out of 5 stars It's a kilt., 21 Jan 2003
By D. Bloomer "quietearth" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
I used to love wrestling in the 80's. Roddy Piper was one of the major stars of the then WWF. I came to this book expecting an over view of his WWF and then WCW days. It doesn't quite get to the WCW part but that doesn't matter. The tale Piper tells if of the world he grew up in. From his early begginings in very dodgy ring attire, to being a top draw in WWF.
It's similar in vain to Tom "Dynamite Kids" Billingtons book. The thing with this book is you don't want to put this down. I hope that there's going to be a 2nd volume. I'd reccomend this to anyone with even a passing interest in wrestling. If you've seen any films with Piper, in get it as well. He exposes a lot about the promoters and how they deal with wrestlers. If you enjoyed watching Beyond the Mat, get this book. BTW, I liked Hell Comes to Frog Town, even if Piper didn't.

5.0 out of 5 stars roddy gets rowdy!!!, 14 Aug 2007
By J. Wilkes "bret hart #1 fan" (birmingham, uk) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
a perfect accomplishment to the dvd set which came out in march this year, roddy is honest about his career and life and there are quite a lot of funny stores and behind the scenes stories of what wrestling was like in the 70's and 80's. also piper is bret hart's cousin on bret's dad side so he is part of wrestlings greatest dynasty, I recommend this and the dvd set called born to controversy the rosdy roddy piper story as thwy compliment each other nicely
