4.0 out of 5 stars pregnancy after loss, 17 Sep 2003
By A Customer
i found this book extremely easy to read, and it laid out many other women's experiences well. it brought together a whole range of different reasons why people lost their children and as written by a woman who had had the experience, was very sympathetic and reassuring to the reader.
i found the book extremely positive, and mentioned many women who had gone onto have successful pregnancies after a loss for various reasons. i read it and felt alot more positive.
the only draw back would be the fact that as the author is based in america, some of the advice would not be relevant to our NHS system

4.0 out of 5 stars it spoke to me like a friend, 29 Jan 2008
By FG (Witshire) - See all my reviews
I bought a few books to help me through the devastating loss of my first child, this book helped me the most. Although it is very 'american' I shared the author's experience and many of her emotions. It is a relief to read something that made me think "oh yes, I feel that too" when I was already feeling very lonley. Granted it cannot talk to everyone in the same way, but it helped me and gave me hope when I had none. The author understands the desire to try again and all the pro's and con's of doing so, she doesn't tell you what to do, she simply shares her experience and those of other people who she researched the book with. It was useful throughout my subsequent pregnancy, worrying at times, encouraging at others but on the whole the most useful of the books I have and I still refer to it occasionally. She refers to "Empty cradle, broken heart" quite a bit, on its own a good book to read, but if trying again is what you yern to do, buy this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars A mother's advice following her happy outcome, 24 Sep 2006
This book is friendly and easy-to-read but I found it's just too positive for my liking. The author keeps stressing how every woman she quotes has gone on to have a successful pregnancy. Well, in my book that's pretty biased, given that many readers (myself included) are in the high-risk pregnancy category. Yes, we want positivity, but we don't need smug, 'it'll all be OK in the end' dictum.

4.0 out of 5 stars A current lifeline.
I'm 12wks pregnant after my baby was stillborn last year at 38wks and this book is my best friend. I only wish there was a UK version as the medical stuff is all American.
