3.0 out of 5 stars Han and Leia's youngest starts his Jedi training., 24 Nov 2004
By Ian Tapley "thefragrantwookiee" - See all my reviews
(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (REAL NAME)
THE STORY:
Eighteen years after 'Return of the Jedi', Anakin Solo begins training at his Uncle Luke's Jedi Academy on Yavin 4, where he befriends the vibrant girl Tahiri. Together they receive dreams of a mysterious temple and set off into the jungles to find it.

WHAT'S GOOD:
I enjoyed this very different approach to the Jedi Academy, showing aspects of it not featured in the Jedi Academy trilogy or even the Young Jedi Knights series. Tahiri is an excellent new character, providing the perfect counterpoint to Anakin. Also, I thought that the revelation about Ikrit was the perfect end to the book, bringing Yoda's words "Judge me by my size do you?" to life once more.

WHAT'S BAD:
The reason I've only given this book three stars is threefold. Firstly, the writing style (appropriate to it's target audience) is just too childish and simplistic for adults to get much out of it. Secondly, the story itself is slow and not particularly engaging. Finally, the pages of my copy of this book smelled really bad (probably due to the awful quality of the paper)!

4.0 out of 5 stars A perfect book for young Star Wars Fans, 14 Jul 1999
By A Customer
I think that this book is middling in complex wording, probly created for kids around the ages 8-12. Even though it was a bit slow, and I prefer more complex wording, it was a fairly good book as far as the plot goes. For older readers seeking Star Wars Books, try the Young Jedi Knights series, but this book is a perfect book for a younger reader.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great start to a new series, 8 Jun 1998
By A Customer
The Golden Globe is a great start to a new series. It has a couple of flaws in it. But what do you expect when there are so many Star Wars books being printed all the time. It's hard to keep up with Star Wars history. But this book is a great way to introduce Anakin to his own series. I'm glad they did it.
