5.0 out of 5 stars Rollercoaster adventure featuring Sean Dillon and co, 30 Jul 2004
By Darren Simons (Middlesex, United Kingdom) - See all my reviews
(TOP 500 REVIEWER)
This review is from: Thunder Point (Paperback)
Thunder Point tells the story of a U-boat found recently as a wreck in the Virgin Islands. On board lies the ultimate treasure - a black book who's who of Nazi sympathisers including political figures at the very top of the British hierarchy. It is vital that this information is destroyed for the protection of national security... clearly this must be done quietly so the only way to do this is to bring in Sean Dillon to do the job.

This book contains a similar cast to a number of other Higgins books.. Sean Dillon (ex-IRA enforcer now working for the British government) and Brigadier Charles Ferguson (in change of special operations for the Prime Minister and as english as you could possibly get). The story takes you through a roller-coaster adventure with political manoeuvrings part of the course.

I cannot recommend this book enough - it is an exciting read from the first page and if you have not read any other Higgins books before.. I would suggest you could not do better than to start with this one.

3.0 out of 5 stars entertaining enough..., 19 Jan 1999
By A Customer
Typical of a Jack Higgins book this was a suitably entertaining read and there was no time to get bored with the plot because of the speed at which it was developed. It didn't however contain anything that made this a particularly special book. The idea of Bormann escaping Berlin with documents now at the bottom of the sea in a crashed submarine sounded promising and when the book started with Dillon getting mixed up in the Balkans I thought I was in store for a thrilling read. But the story seemed to be no more than a rerun of On Dangerous Ground except with different villains and different documents. The thing that was least convincing was why Ferguson should wish to involve Dillon in the first place. Doesn't he know any British divers? Still, at least it brought Dillon into the action who is a strong character if a little unbelievable in places. All in all it's not bad, but not a patch on The Eagle Has Landed.

This is yet another book staring Sean Dillon and it does him credit. This book is breath taking from page 1 to 360.
