Product Description

Nursery World
Written with great clarity, sympathy and a minimum of jargon...one other important strength of this book is its positive approach to equal opportunities and the multicultural and multilingual contexts of education...

Product Description
Important changes in Early Years policy have been made since the first edition of Sandra Smidt's book was published in 1998. With the British government's commitment to funding nursery education for all four-year-olds, those working in this field must develop their knowledge of child development and theories of learning. This volume highlights initiatives such as the replacement of Desirable Outcomes by the Foundation Stage and Early Learning Goals. This second edition is particularly appropriate for those implementing the government's new Sure Start programmes. As with the first edition, this book may be used as a "core" text for students and teachers alike involved in any area of Early Years teaching.

This book is a must if you are studying or working in the childcare setting. It gets straight to the point with a minimum of jargon that explains the importance of play & learning in the development of the child. Sandra Smidt has taken a positive approach in her writting with the inclusion of equal opportunities, multilingual & multiculture asspects that are an all important factor in todays childcare & education establishments. This edition also works well with the national curriculaum.
