Product Description

Review

'This book fills a gap in the historical sporting literature of Britain ... an excellent work which omits nothing of significance.' - Wray Vamplew, De Montfort University

'Convincingly locates sport within the shifting political, cultural and economic contours of contemporary society ... should interest not just those working within the fields of history and cultural\media studies, but anyone wishing to understand the development of sport in the UK since 1945.' - Dr Raymond Boyle, University of Stirling

'A book pumped full of interesting material, then - the Appendix and Notes make it superb informational springboard.' - Chris Maume, The Independant

4.0 out of 5 stars A must for all 21st Century students of sport., 14 Dec 1999
By A Customer
an excellent review of sports history post 1945, detailing events that have changed the shape of sport. A must for serious sports students, because it identifies the serious issues facing sport today, and indicates their historical routes. An excellent blend of history and sociology for those that care about sport. I have already used aspects for my A Level students.
