This is a great book if u want to learn the somali language, its not just another phrase book.Its interactive, its clear, its practical and its complete. I would recommend this book to anyone interested in Somali.

An excellent book if you want to be an expert in Somali language and grammar. Not so good if you just want to have a normal conversation with someone.
For example, I can tell you that the enemy's destroyed my field but I still can't count to 10.
Then again, maybe that's the kind of language you might need in Somalia!

This is an excellent book for anyone who seriously wants to learn Somali. It's definitely not a phrase book. It clearly and gradually explains the ins and outs of Somali grammar, with plenty of exercises to help you get it into your head. I'd suggest that if you've never attempted to learn a language before, then you might find it quite hard going - a reasonably sophisticated knowledge of grammatical terms is required. But if you're up for a challenge, it's a real joy to use.
